4G Coming In December 2012 3G In March Bangladesh
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin
Ahmed Raju Tuesday said the fourth-generation (4G)
technology phone network will be launched in Bangladesh by
December next.
He also said: “The third-generation (3G) mobile phone
network will be started in the country by two to three
months.”
The minister disclosed this while replying to a
supplementary question made by lawmaker Mustaque
Ahmed Ruhi at the question-answer session of the
parliament.
“There is a possibility of reducing mobile call charge after
completing the cost modeling project implemented by the
assistance of International Telecommunication Unit (ITU), ”
said Raju responding to another question of Nazim Uddin
Ahmed MP.
Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission
(BTRC) Chairman Major General (retd) Zia Ahmed said
tender will be invited for providing 3-G license in June next.
The BTRC chief said this at a press conference held in the
city on Tuesday. In this respect, a guideline will be sent to
the ministry soon, he added.

Bangladesh Finance Ministry opens Electronic Fund Transfer

Electronic Fund Transfer (ETF) was introduced in
the Ministry of Finance Wednesday as part of its financial
service automation.
According to the ministry sources, monthly salary of the
officers and staffs of Finance Division and Banking Division
under the Ministry of Finance has been transferred to their
respective bank accounts using Integrated Budget and
Accounting System (iBAS) and Bangladesh Electronic Fund
Transfer Network (BEFTN).
Deepening Medium Term Budget Framework and
Strengthening Financial Accountability Project under Finance
Division is providing technical support in automation of the
financial service, sources added.
Initiatives have been taken to expand Electronic Fund
Transfer for other government offices of Dhaka city and
divisional cities across the country within next six months.
